Intimacy & wild passion,
sadness & grave misunderstandings...
In April this
year, Grin & Tonic is presenting a ‘Boutique Production’ of
Shakespeare’s masterpiece,
Romeo & Juliet.
In true Grin & Tonic style, we are going back to Shakespeare’s text
and making new discoveries each rehearsal!
With Romeo
& Juliet, we have the pleasure of introducing the young,
handsome and incorrigible Marcus Whittington, who will play
one half of the star-crossed lovers duo, Romeo. Playing his
clandestine bride is the vivacious and beguiling Nadine Kelly. Our
Romeo & Juliet are strongly supported by a cast of new and old faces
including Travis Brown Ash, George Canham, Sean Cleary, Rob
Griffiths, Luke Kite, Cienda McNamara, Bryan Nason (as Capulet),
Kevin Nugent, Justin Palazzo-Orr, Imogen Rogers, Paul Sherman (as
Friar Laurence), and Carmen Trevino. The production is being steered
by a legend of Queensland theatre, Dr Bryan Nason and by a
visionary director and international artist,
Niki-J Witt.
Romeo & Juliet also marks the
beginning of the Grin & Tonic Acting Company! It’s a revolution
against the old regime...the aristocrats of the fat theatre are
overturned by the starving artists! We hope you will join us to
support these talented, raw and passionate young artists. Oh, and be
prepared for a few surprises in Romeo & Juliet -
Shakespeare’s text is surprising us every day... no wonder he is
still referred to as the master!
The Grin & Tonic Acting
Company will breathe new life & love into this high-spirited,
restless, comic & tragic journey, which will be presented in the
Roma Street Parkland Amphitheatre.
